Home lock and key help, start to finish
A home lock problem rarely waits for a convenient moment. When you call, the dispatcher asks what happened, gives you an approximate estimate from the published price list, and sends an independent locksmith who works in the Union City area. The locksmith checks the lock in person and confirms the price before any work starts.
Getting back inside
- House and apartment lockouts: non-destructive entry is tried first on standard locks.
- Broken key extraction: the broken piece is removed so the cylinder can be checked and, if needed, rekeyed.
- Lost keys: locks can be rekeyed so a lost key no longer opens your door.
Locks and hardware
- Rekeying: new pins inside your existing lock, so old keys stop working.
- Lock replacement and deadbolt installation: including doors that need a new bore for a deadbolt.
- Lock repair: sticking cylinders, loose handles and latches that will not catch.
- Smart and keypad locks: help choosing and fitting a keypad or smart deadbolt.
- Mailbox locks, peepholes and safe installation.
Keys
- Key cutting and duplicate keys for house, garage, mailbox and cabinet locks.
- Master key systems for duplexes and rentals, where each unit key opens its own door and one key opens all.
Rekey or replace?
If your locks work well and you only want to control who has a key, rekeying is usually the lower-cost option. Replacement makes sense when a lock is worn, damaged or you want a higher security grade. Read more in why rekey locks when moving and our guide to deadbolt locks.
What it costs
The service call fee is $29. Lockouts, rekeys and basic lock repairs start at $19, and a basic lock change starts at $25, plus labor and any hardware you buy. Starting prices are minimum estimates; the locksmith confirms the final figure on site. See the full price list and current coupons.
Frequently asked questions
Can my locks be rekeyed instead of replaced?
Usually, yes. If the lock is in good working order, rekeying swaps the pins so a new key works and old keys do not. It is often cheaper than buying new hardware.
Will I be asked for ID during a home lockout?
Expect the locksmith to ask for ID or other proof that you live at the address before opening the door. It protects you as much as anyone.
How much does a house lockout cost?
The published starting price for a lockout is $19 plus the $29 service call fee. The final price depends on the lock and is confirmed before work begins.
